Barry Creech

Barry is a lifelong resident of Louisville, KY, where he works in the Office of Communication for the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).  Barry's primary areas of emphasis are in consulting, information retrieval, and planning. Barry lives with spouse, Kathy, and three sons (one in high school, one in middle school, and one in elementary school).  He enjoys camping, history, travel, and problem-solving.

 

 Luis Figueroa

Luis is Legislative Staff Attorney at the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF) in San Antonio, Texas.  In law school, Luis was a student attorney for the immigration clinic and served on the board of the Public Interest Law Association.  Prior to joining MALDEF, Luis was an Esther Peterson Fellow for the Consumers Union, publisher of Consumer Reports, where he advocated for federal consumer protections in the areas of telecommunications, financial privacy and mutual fund reform.  Luis was awarded the 2003 Excellence in Public Interest Award by the Texas Law Fellowship and was also a 2003 UT Co-Op Public Interest Award recipient. 

Jonathan Lawson

Jonathan is a co-founder and director of Reclaim the Media, a Seattle-based nonprofit organization promoting community media, media literacy and media policy reform. During the last two years, Reclaim the Media has played a catalytic role in the growth of a national movement focused on democratizing media policy. Jonathan also directs organizing communications for the Washington Federation of State Employees/AFSCME. He is a four-year veteran of the Independent Media Center movement, and co-hosts the weekly creative music program Flotation Device on KBCS. His articles on media issues have appeared in numerous publications.  Jonathan studied at Guilford College and the University of Washington, and holds a Masters degree in Theological Studies from Harvard University.

Ana M. Montes

Ana is currently employed by the Latino Issues Forum (LIF), a statewide non-profit public policy and advocacy institute, as the Director of Technology and Consumer Education.  Ana sits on several community statewide and national boards dealing with technology, telecommunications and community issues.   Ana reviews and comments on telecommunications policy that affects Latinos in California.  Ana has testified on Digital Divide Hearings in Sacramento, Washington D.C. and has served as a speaker at numerous technology conferences and forums.

Kade L. Twist

Kade is Co-Founder and Vice President of the Native Networking Policy Center (NNPC), a nonprofit organization whose mission is to ensure equitable and affordable access to telecommunications and information technology services in Indian Country.  Kade directs NNPC's Southwest Field Office and serves as program director for the Native Networking Coalition.  Prior to NNPC, Kade was a policy analyst for the Benton Foundation specializing in communications policy issues impacting Indian Country and rural America. While there, Kade worked on the Digital Divide Network, a public interest policy project that played a significant role in framing public discourse pertaining to America's digital inequities.  Kade is an enrolled member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma.

Katrin Verclas

Katrin is co-director of Aspiration, a non-profit organization that promotes and supports effective software development for the nonprofit and civil society sectors.  Katrin draws on more than a decade of experience in the non-profit and social change fields, including three years as a technology consultant to NGOs and more than six years at several foundations and funder collaboratives where Katrin was an early proponent of strategic funding of technology in the areas of citizen participation and campaign finance reform.  Katrin hold a B.A. from the University of Massachusetts and is currently completing a M.S. in Information Technology Management and Systems Integration at the Graduate School at Marlboro College.

Antwuan Wallace

Antwuan is a social justice advocate who helps construct policy innovations for politically marginalized and economically stratified communities. Antwuan serves as the Senior Research Associate for BCT Partners, an IT management and policy consulting firm. Antwuan is a doctoral candidate in Policy Analysis at New School University and a Research Assistant at the Community Research Development Center. Antwuan holds a B.A. from Hampton University and a MPA from Indiana University-Bloomington.
