Consumers Union Supports Effort to Give Public Access to Government Funded Research

Each year, your taxes fund billions of dollars in science research, the results of which you may never see unless you have access to expensive science journals. 

The internet has revolutionized information sharing and made it possible to foster greater efficiency with research by making this information available to scientists, medical professionals, educators, libraries and the public at large by requiring that large federal agencies offer free, online access to taxpayer-funded reports.

Consumers Union believes that you should have access to this published information, and is proud to join with other consumer groups, libraries, researchers, publishers and patients to support the Federal Research Public Access Act of 2006 (S. 2695).
