Problems with HughesNet

I spent about half a day contacting Earthlink, who told me they handed off that business to HughesNet and that I needed to take it up with HughesNet. I went back and forth with both companies but ultimately feel that Earthlink was straight up and the problem was with HughesNet.
In the end, the most I could get was that they would officially cancel my service and no longer bill me, but they would not refund my money for the previous billings. I tried to take it up with my credit card company, but they wouldn't even back me because they said they needed proof of prior cancellation for them to back me.
They weren't responsive to my request that they ask HughesNet to provide any invoicing or other proof that I signed on to their service.
So in the end I lost out for all of it.
