WUSA, the CBS affiliate in Washington, has announced it is killing off its weekly political roundtable show, "Eye on Washington."

In a Washington Post article, WUSA General Manager Alan Horlick explained the abrupt decision to cancel the show thusly: "'Eye on Washington' is a wonderful program, but its focus is largely national politics, and our mission is really serving the Washington community."

Okay. Fair enough. But given that reasoning, wouldn't it be logical for WUSA to serve the Washington community by filling that time slot with some sort of public affairs programming focusing on local issues and/or politics?

Apparently not.

Instead of running "Eye on Washington" and it's local news broadcast on Saturdays between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m., WUSA will run an hour of "Entertainment Tonight."
